The Positive Power of Technology

Interview by Sarah Fritz, Founder, Yes Queen

After living and working remotely for two years and running digital native businesses, St Dakota and Yes Queen I have been completely exposed to the positive power of technology - I've connected, learnt, grown and succeeded via technology. Whether it's an email, podcast, Skype session, DM, social posts, blogs, video, webinar, EDM, energy reading or business coach session over video - the consumption combining good intention and meaningful content is something I have really honoured.

“In an era of Twitter wars and internet trolls, hate can spread from a single comment. Looking to 2021 positivity is on the horizon, as a growing tide of kindness is pushing back.” (wgsn) Through Yes Queen’s quest to future-proof wellness at work, we’ve challenged the status quo and created a tech sanctuary, where people have joined to be part of a kindness-community and feel safe, uplifted and connected.

Meet some of the ‘Kindness Keepers’ who continue to be true to their ethos whilst harnessing the power of tech. These game-changers are not afraid of evolution, they embrace it - and because of this, are pioneers of new-age business.

Technology positively-powers my business by...allowing me to connect with the world.

I create meaningful content by having profound experiences with life. Fear nothing and live to tell the story.

I intentionally use technology to...connect with others, listen to others and inform myself of information that I resonate with.

The best platform I use is "gaia tv" this has an unlimited source of yoga which I love to do in the mornings, guided meditations and information that is mindful and nourishing.

Thinking forward - what kind of tech innovation would help your business?  Time travel! ;)

Technology positively-powers my business by… allowing my message to be transmitted across this powerful medium to an audience previously unreachable.

I create meaningful content by exploring who I am and how I can serve this planet.

I intentionally use technology to… develop a stream of consciousness between me and my clients.

The best platform was Facebook…Experience: Sharing my passions, music and space holding to my wider community. And finding Teachers / Classes / Courses I resonate with

Thinking forward - what kind of tech innovation would help your business? Decentralised platforms - more cryptography to allow for privacy and give us more control on our information we see and share. Much less algorithms that are over controlling our information and causing our messages to not meet their destinations.

Technology positively-powers my business by...connecting me with beautiful souls around the world whether as clients, collaborators or friends. Technology has also enabled me to build a location-independent business, and the ability to travel and work across two continents.

I create meaningful content by... Tuning in to higher guidance and connecting with my heart space, and from this asking what needs to be shared that day, both on a personal level and collectively.

I intentionally use technology to... Hold energy readings with clients, share channelled messages with the intention to help my community on their paths, to connect with friends around the world, and always to learn and gain new inspiration.

The best platform was..I have to say any and all learning platforms/courses I have engaged with. One of my all-time faves is To Be Magnetic/Lacy Phillips and her phenomenal courses. I’m also infinitely grateful for connecting with Sarah and her life-changing work with the Yes Queen.

Thinking forward - what kind of tech innovation would help your business? An all-in-one solution to inspire, connect, share content and continuously have a dialogue with my community of clients and collaborators. I’m currently doing this via 5 different tech platforms!

Technology positively-powers my business by...Allowing me to reach an audience I am otherwise not surrounded by. Not only 'reaching' an audience but connecting and creating powerful friendships and incredible business relationships along the way.

I create meaningful content by... Focusing on our brands mission. To inspire and empower our audience with the knowledge and confidence to utilise spiritual tools and techniques to manifest positive changes in their lives and within themselves. By focusing on the core of our message we can create content that speaks 'Uluna'. We truly wish to help people be their best selves with love, kindness and good vibes.

I intentionally use technology to... Get anything and everything done. I find technology to be a convenient way to tick off my to-do list. As a busy working Mum it's important to multitask and technology allows me to 'work smarter, not harder'.

The best platform was social media. Honestly the best experience has been the positive feedback via socials (FB and Instagram) from workshop attendees and those that have used Uluna products. It's so nice to have that positive feedback when you're a small business as it inspires and uplifts when you're working really hard and pouring your heart and soul into your passion.

Thinking forward - what kind of tech innovation would help your business? Given that half of our brand is a focus on aromatherapy it would be highly beneficial for there to be some coding for smell. To upload sensory code to trigger your olfactory sensory neurons within the brain without requiring the physical molecules from the oils. Not only would this allow you to 'try before you buy', but it would make our product more accessible as an 'aromatic'.

Technology positively-powers my business by... getting my brand in front of thousands of people each week and being able to share my work and ideas with like minded people.

I create meaningful content by... telling the stories of each piece of jewellery I create.

I intentionally use technology to... get my message about my business out there as well as communicating directly to customers/consumers.

The best platform was…Instagram is so good for building relationships with like minded people and creating a community online of people you may never meet in real life - also the ability to be able to engage and learn is phenomenal.

Thinking forward - what kind of tech innovation would help your business? Not sure, but the Ai space is pretty amazing. Sure it will keep growing and amazing us.

Phoebe Simmonds, Founder, The BLOW and Co-Founder, The Memo

Technology positively-powers my business by… creating a democratic community of women who lift each other up through inspiring content on socials. Commercially, we have an online booking system that exists to help make life more effortless for our busy guests.

I create meaningful content by… staying true to my own mission and tapping into what really resonates with me. I use social media as an extension of my brand, which is rooted in feminism and the positive reinforcement of others to achieve their goals and break through barriers.

I intentionally use technology to… connect and inspire.

The best platform was..Yes Queen! I love how Instagram can introduce you to new people and how democratic DMs are. Reach out, put connections out to the universe and see what it serves up to you.

Thinking forward - what kind of tech innovation would help your business? Anything that can help me creatively. Think Canva on steroids.

Erin Pugh, Founder, Orles and Strategy Director, OMD

Technology positively-powers my business by...Getting my brand in front of the right audience and giving them an easy and effortless way to check out via Shopify.

I create meaningful content by...Letting it come from my soul. Orles is an extension of me and I put my heart and soul into my creative articulation of the brand. It’s hard not to compare yourself to others so I try to keep it real by running my own race.

I intentionally use technology to... Connect with like-minded amazing business women! I’ve met so many wonderful new friends on this journey and I am very thankful for it.

The best platform was... YES QUEEN and reconnecting with my soul sister Sarah.

Thinking forward - what kind of tech innovation would help your business? A new Instagram. The platform is too saturated and with organic reach declining daily to favour big ad spend, small businesses need a way to connect with fans through an app or platform that isn’t run by huge tech giants.
